The Indigenous community has had a long humorous relationship with the expression ‘Indian Time’. (yes everyone says ‘Indian Time’ cuz Indigenous Time just doesn’t roll of the tongue the same way lol)
Our understanding is that there are two ways to interpret Indian Time. The funny interpretation is that when the Mc at the Powwow announces the Grand Entry will be at 12, noon, Indian Time, we all understand that Grand Entry will be a little late….approximately noon…lol.
But the more philosophical or spiritual understanding of Indian Time is in the Native awareness that “it will happen when it is supposed to happen”. We all have projects and plans and ambitions that we relax into and are aware that, “it will happen when it is supposed to happen”. And this patience and tranquillity brings peace to the spirit.
We are offering these clocks made with local Live Edge Black Cherry wood (live edge means we have left the bark on). Each Clock has been carefully sanded and finished with Bear Grease oil.
