Brand new colour deer from this past fall’s hunting season. We have been offering a light cream colour for several years, but wanted something a little bit darker and bit more, medium smoke’ colour. This is not brain tanned and smoked but we were going for a colour that is similar. In hide colouring there is the golds, the creams and the browns in the ‘natural’ colours. Golds are yellowish, creams are caramelish and browns are…..well brown…. In this picture the skin side/smooth side is on left..great texture, scarring is visible (remember this is moose NOT cow) and there is some colour variation. The hides on right represent the suede side, a rich caramel, perfect even tone, no variations. Sizes run from 6 to 9 sq ft.
Moose are wild animals and the leather has “normal” moose life experience built into it, but we always select the best pieces possible. (and we guarantee our hide if you are not happy we would replace it) If you are planning on using the suede side out, you might consider going for the ‘seconds’ to save some $$. Our seconds suede is 95% perfect…it is classified as seconds because the smooth side might be scraped or have some colour variation on the smooth side…but the suede side colour is very very even.
