Matt Caramel Deer. We have started working with a new tannery here in Quebec this year. All of their finishing is very understated with a matt finish. This caramel is quite close in colour to our cedarwood deer but the texture is more even and matt. Our cedarwood has more variation and character, a little more rustic. In this picture left hide is skin/smooth side out right hide is suede side.

Their processing runs the hides through a roller (kinda like a very old washing machines that squeezes clothing through two rollers) This squeezing make the grain of the leather extremely smooth and even in colour. This caramel is quite close in colour to our cedarwood deer but the texture is more even and matt. Our cedarwood has more variation and character.
